Jharkhand Congress has sent a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren demanding repeal of the amended laws of land bank and land acquisition. Along with this, he has also appealed to simplify the process of issuing caste certificates of Dalits.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Congress legislature party leader Rameshwar Oraon and state president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh on Monday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren demanding immediate repeal of the amended laws of land bank and land acquisition. Apart from this, he has also appealed to simplify the process of issuing caste certificates for the Dalit community and to provide caste certificates to all as well as to provide land pattas to landless Dalit families.

What have Congress leaders said in their letter?

The letter mentions that the Raghuvar Das government included 22 lakh acres of community land in Jharkhand in the land bank, although the consent of the Gram Sabha was not taken for this. This land bank is a clear violation of the PESA law, as community land has special importance in tribal villages.

Why was the land acquisition law amendment said to be a violation of PESA law?

Jharkhand Congress has clearly stated that the Land Acquisition Law (Jharkhand) Amendment, 2017, implemented by the former BJP government, allows forcible acquisition of multi-crop, private and community lands without Gram Sabha consent and social impact assessment for private and government projects. There is provision for. This is a clear violation of PESA law. Congress has demanded that the Land Bank and Land Acquisition Law (Jharkhand) Amendment, 2017 be immediately repealed.

What problems of Dalits have been mentioned?

In the letter, two Congress leaders have mentioned the problems faced by Dalit communities in getting caste certificates made. He said that there are members of 27 listed Dalit (Scheduled Caste) castes and subcastes in Jharkhand, including Bhuiyan, Dom, Valmiki, Bansjhor, most of whom are landless. Members of lakhs of Dalit families in the state are deprived of caste certificates.

Congress has demanded that the process of making caste certificates for Dalit communities should be immediately simplified and caste certificates should be issued to them. Also, land leases should be given to landless Dalit families. It is noteworthy that Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha and Save Democracy Campaign have been continuously raising these issues.
